Our Responsibilities
As your landlord, Ochil View Housing Association has responsibilities towards its Scottish Secure Tenants. In terms of Information we must:
- give you a written tenancy agreement
- provide you with information about our complaints procedure
- before your tenancy begins give you information about the right to buy and any responsibilities you may have if you buy your home
- if you ask us, provide you with information about our policies on setting rent, allocating houses, repairs and maintenance.
In terms of Consultation we must:
- consult with you and take account of your views before making or changing any housing management policies that are likely to significantly affect you, for example, repairs and maintenance, rent and service charges.
- Tenants' groups can register with us and have a right to be consulted.
In relation to Compensation for Improvements we must:
- provide compensation at the end of your tenancy for certain types of improvements you have made to your home. (Providing you obtained our permission in the first place.)
In relation to Repairs before the tenancy begins we will:
- inspect the house and carry out any necessary repairs to ensure that it is wind and watertight, habitable and reasonably fit for human habitation
- keep in repair the structure and exterior of the house and installations for water, gas, electricity, sanitation, heating and hot water.
- carry out certain types of small urgent repairs within a given timescale (called the "right to repair").
